See If Hair Restoration PRP Therapy Is Right For You

hair restoration

If your hair is thinning out, or even falling out, it may be the right time to consider PRP therapy. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and it works really well for hair loss when caught in the early stages. PRP has been used in the past to treat musculoskeletal conditions as well as skin conditions. More recently it has been used to regenerate hair and promote hair growth.

Hair Loss

Men and women are both prone to hair loss in the later stages of life as hair follicles begin to weaken. Although it happens to men, this is much more common in men and it’s known as male-pattern baldness or hair loss.

This can lead to a receding hairline overtime as well, and hair thinning out at the top of the head. This can continue to progress until there is complete or almost complete baldness.

Women can also experience thinning of the hair at the top of the head, as well as thinning out all over the scalp. Women can experience female-pattern alopecia which can lead to complete hair loss.

How Does PRP Therapy Work?

Platelet-rich plasma can already be found in your blood, and is important for regeneration of cells and tissues. This plasma is full of proteins that help clot your blood to stop the bleeding after being injured.

For PRP therapy to begin, a blood sample is taken and put into a centrifuge to separate the platelet’s from your blood. This high concentration is then collected and injected into desired areas of the scalp.

When Does PRP Therapy Work Most Efficiently?

If you’ve noticed that excessive hair is coming out while you shower or brush, or that your scalp is beginning to thin out, PRP therapy can stop the hair loss. PRP therapy works best in the early stages of thinning, balding, and hair receding. If you have an underlying disease or causes of hair loss, PRP therapy may not be right for you.
