The eyes are often the most compelling and beautiful parts of a person’s face. If you’d like to highlight your eyes and improve your appearance, use the following tips:
Change Your Makeup Routine
A few makeup tweaks can make your eyes pop. Start by keeping the rest of your makeup subtle so that your eyes will stand out. Consider using a colored shadow to make your eye color more noticeable. You can also use a dab of white eye shadow in the inner and outer corners of your eyes to make your eyes look brighter and more alert. If you are going out, play up your eyes even more with lots of mascara, a dark eyeliner, cat eye, or smoky eye shadow.
Get Enough Sleep Or Fake It
You want your eyes to help you look younger and more beautiful, not haggard and old. The big game changer here is sleep—getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night can prevent dark circles and puffiness around the eyes.
If for some reason you can’t get the sleep you need one night, you can make yourself look like you are well rested in a few steps:
• Apply an eye cream with caffeine or a wet tea bag underneath your eyes.
• Hold a cold compress to your eyes for a few minutes to reduce puffiness.
• Use a creamy, solid concealer underneath your eyes and draw it on in a triangle that points down toward your cheeks. Carefully rub it in with your ring finger.
• Place highlighter inside the corners of your eyes to make them look whiter and less bloodshot.
Get Longer, Darker Eyelashes
Long dark eyelashes frame your eyes and help them stand out. You can use mascara or fake eyelashes to create a fuller look, or you can use a prescription like Latisse to grow out your own natural eyelashes.
Ask About Blepharoplasty
If your eyelids have become droopy or puffy with age, blepharoplasty (also known as eyelid surgery) may be a good option. This procedure can be used to remove excess skin and improve the appearance of your eyes. It can be done on the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid, or both.
