How so?
It is in our hardwiring to assess our neighbor (boss, potential spouse, coworker, cashier at the grocery store). Pretty much everyone we come into contact with is assessed by the brain in split-second timing. Likewise, the brain of our new acquaintance is measuring us up at the same time. How do we do this? By entering vital details into our the database of our psyche.
Face shape? The brain says this:
- Square face = ambitious, yes! Domineering, hmmm.
- Round face = ahhhh, sensitive and caring. Maybe somewhat emotional, too.
- Long face = methodical and practical; a potential workaholic.
- Triangular face = active, but lacking in the stamina department.
And this Matters why?
Thousands of years ago, when humans used face-reading as a method of survival, the importance of first impressions pretty much came down to eat or be eaten mentality. Today, we still have this basic idea deep within the brain. Instead of fearing for our very lives, though, what we do is subconsciously put face-reading to work to assess the nature of those we may work with or for, or those with whom we may want to develop a personal relationship. Essentially, the facial esthetic equates to success. Both in your personal life and in your career.
The good news is that there are ways to change what has become flattened, or saggy, or wrinkled. It doesn’t always mean surgery, either. To address concerns related to your facial shape or features, give us a call at (504) 378-2030.
